Papas arrugadas con mojo

You have probably heard of the canarian potatoes with the popular canarian sauce that is known as mojo. It is the most famous dish of the canarian cuisine.

Ropa vieja

Ropavieja is one of the most popular dishes in the canarian gastronomy, normally is a mixture of chickpeas, potatoes, dried tomatoes and some kind of meat, usually chicken, pork or goat but in coastal areas you can find an octopus version.

Gofio escaldado

Traditional porridge made with gofio, which is a corn flour, mixed with a seafood broth. It is very tasty if they cook it properly. Is better to share it with people because this dish is very filling.

Garbanzada

Garbanzada is a popular stew made with chickpeas and some kind of pork, specially chorizo. It is really tasty and is offered is many local restaurants, specially on the countryside.

Queso asado

Queso asado is not unique from the Canary Islands but it is quite popular. They usually grill a local Canarian cheese and they put jam or mojo sauce on top.

Potaje de berros

For many generations the Canarian people have been eating this popular stew, made with watercress, beans, pumpkin, corn and other vegetables.
